The Pros:When it works the range is fairly good, works all over the house. Handsets are brightly backlit, work well in the dark.
The Cons:Noticeable lag/delay when dialing a number, buttons react slowly. Frequent clicking and buzzing comes through the handsets. Playback from answering machine is poor quality, hard to understand what people are saying.
The VTech CS5121 is an ENERGY STAR cordless phone / answering machine with Caller ID. Its digital answering machine (no tapes or moving parts required) hosts 12 minutes of recording time, as well as remote message retrieval.

As for cordless operation, the unit functions at 5.8GHz for enhanced range, greater sound quality, and vastly superior security. And its Caller ID holds 4t names/numbers, but does require a subscription. Additional features of the VTech CS5121 include numerous convenience functions (9-number speed dial, any answer key, last number redial), wall mountable, and a pager/handset-locator.
Additional Information
For a more affordable model, consider the CS5111. It maintains the same features, save for a digital answering machine.
