Panasonic KX-TG7431

$80.00 Released March, 2009

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Tiny base unit takes up very little table area. Uses rechargeable AAA batteries rather than proprietary units, allowing for easy battery replacement if something goes wrong. Talking caller ID is great for seniors and other who may have trouble reading the display.

The Cons:Call quality is weak, tends to be quite quiet. Basic operation is overly complex and unintuitive. Features a tiny joystick that is used for volume adjustment (which is quite awkward) but not menu navigation (which makes no sense).

Panasonic's KX-TG7431 is a mid-range cordless phone that uses DECT 6.0 to minimize interference with other wireless devices. It has a single handset and base that charges its batteries, and this can be expanded up to 6 total handsets.

The phone also features a block list that can ignore programmed numbers and give them a busy signal if they call again. The handset has silent mode as well as programmable talking alarms and battery life indicators. Other features include call waiting ID, handset locator, talking caller ID and 4-way conference calling. The batteries charge in about 7 hours, and last for 11 hours on standby or 5 hours of talk time.
